Riparia after Chapter 6

Tales of Ba Sing Se

Everyone come up with two or three things for each character that isn't yours that you'd like to see them do in Riparia on this visit. As you see everyone else add options for your character, think about which you'd like to have as your Tale of Ba Sing Se, and when you decide among the six, let Tobes know (in email) which one you pick.

Things for Alera

  • Hearing of her Fall, Grumpus the Dwarf appears again with advice... from her mother
  • Knowing her to be crucial in a fight against undead, Cordova arranges a training with Morvant's zombies
  • Alera does clerical things for the people of the city despite not having any powers.
  • Alera has a girls day out with Nico.
  • Alera gets asked by the temple of Sarenrae to help with the rehabilitation of a criminal.

Things for Callon

  • Callon goes on the hunt to find a blacksmith good enough to fix his sword and potentially make it better
  • After his reunion with his sister, Callon gets a magic user to scry on his other family members to see how they're doing.
  • Goes looking for a magical MacGuffin to aid in repairing his sword.
  • Callon begins to have new dreams in Avanni that seem to be trying to tell him something.
  • Desangriev refuses to be reforged until Callon and the spirit within the blade agree on some things.
  • Callon learns that Elistra has teamed up with the Stingblades and is doing some unsavory things in an attempt to get revenge on the goblins.

Things for Knox

  • Hearing of the danger of his quest, his parents give him an ancient and powerful relic. He just has to figure out how it works.
  • Knox is so taken by piloting the Dibs that he takes it out for a joyride in the Astral Plane. Hilarity ensues.
  • Spending the day either with old tutors from the Ivory Tower, or old classmates catching up and exchanging magical notes.

Things for Lucas

  • After his now famous dragon barbeque, he gets invited to bring the royal kitchen up to snuff. Whatever it takes.
  • Lucas enrolls in a class at the ivory tower so he can become more familiar with the magical world.
  • Lucas encounters a gang of young pickpocketers who try to steal from him.
  • Probably a repeat, but investigates rumors of strange people in Riparia asking questions about/looking for him.

Doodlin' About Riparia

List the things you'd like the group to do in Riparia aside from your Tale of Ba Sing Se.
  • Finally visit that Forgotten Quarter
  • Check in with the Hooded Lantern, Nice and Qip, Fensorciela and Eueth... everyone, basically
  • The Elan come to find the Maladroits in Riparia wanting to collect on the debt owed them (could also save this one for later)
  • Make sure we send something to the Elan so they know to expect us in the past.
  • We go to relax at the Copper  Dragon and catch up with FernDelia and discover that Yanjing has become a headliner
  • The Champions of the Realm have started a tournament and want the Maladroits to participate
  • Visit and see how the mechanical armor is coming along.
  • Go visit the Horizon Hunters and gain admittance for JOURNEYING BACK IN TIME TO HEAVEN. Bully!
  • Arrange a party-unity training session against undead with Master Morvant.
  • TALK. TO. FERNDELIA.

Questions for the Divine Blade

Questions we want to ask

Feel free to transplant stuff from last time.
  • What happened to Avanna?
  • What happened to Beletsirana?
  • Does anything remain of the mages who forged the Magic Sword?
  • What was the magic circle that impostor Grit was trying to use?
  • How were the Slaadi able to appear in the Vigil? Why did they smell of the Undersand?
  • Why were githzerai/githyanki (whatever fake Grit was) infiltrating the Astral Vigil?  For how long?
  • Where is the real Grit and other Astral Vigil members?
  • Now that we have the shard of conjuration, will conjuration spells work properly?
  • How did FakeGrit manage to carry on the charade, and was it one FakeGrit or were there multiple FakeGrits trading off?
  • How did the gith-thingys manage to replace RealGrit?  How many of the Astral Vigil members are fake?  How do we get them back (if that is even a concern)?
  • What will happen if the gods continue to diminish in number?
  • What is needed for the Magic Sword to be reforged once all the Shards have been reunited?
  • Can the Shards that have been collected be safely separated if one needed to be used on its own?
  • What kind of defenses, landscape, and difficulties will we run into when we go to face the Lich?
  • What is needed for the Magic Sword to be reforged once all the Shards have been reunited?
  • Where, in the planes, is Mazoo's soul?

Questions we're actually going to ask

  • What happened to Avanna?
She fell. Knowledge about her was removed from the world. Back in pre-history.
  • What happened to Beletsirana?
The Shard of Conjuration appears as her. It may BE her. At any rate, she didn't find the answer she wanted, but she found the answer she needed. It won't make Callon happy.
  • Does anything remain of the mages who forged the Magic Sword?
Yes, but we aren't ready for it.
  • What was the magic circle that impostor Grit was trying to use?
It was for Beletsirana. It was a waypoint. The original Grit was working with Beletsirana.
  • Why were githzerai(whatever fake Grit was) infiltrating the Astral Vigil?  For how long?
Because they are terrible people. They were going to subvert the hierarchy for their own purposes.
  • Where is the real Grit and other Astral Vigil members?
    Dead.
  • How were the Slaadi able to appear in the Vigil? Why did they smell of the Undersand?
Doesn't know (has to do with Caesras?). They smelled like that because they came from the Undersand.
  • Now that we have the shard of conjuration, will conjuration spells work properly?
    No idea.
  • What will happen if the gods continue to diminish in number?
Then there will be no more gods. Duh.
  • Can the Shards that have been collected be safely separated if one needed to be used on its own?
    There's no way to know.
  • What kind of defenses, landscape, and difficulties will we run into when we go to face the Lich?
Hordes of undead. Perversions of life and goodness. Unimaginable corruption. The demigod lich has a temple around him. Surrounding it is the strongest collection of his servants and the companions he had in life. He resides at the top of the temple, absorbing the flows of negative energy. It's what the temple is for. The land has a name that can only be fully appreciated in Avanni. He HAD a phylactery, but discarded it.
