Riparia after Chapter 7

Tales of Ba Sing Se

Everyone come up with two or three things for each character that isn't yours that you'd like to see them do in Riparia on this visit. As you see everyone else add options for your character, think about which you'd like to have as your Tale of Ba Sing Se, and when you decide among the six, let Tobes know (in email) which one you pick.

Things for Alera

  • Alera receives a message/visitor from her monastery, which has taken up new, rather peculiar worship.
  • Alera receives a messenger from her new god.
  • The burdens of celebrity! Already famous from the Tales, Alera's new Tome/Sarenrae-inspired beauty has merchants and clergy clamoring for her help. The best armors cover the least, right?
  • Alera finds a clue revealing a bit about her parentage

Things for Callon

  • Callon goes to the abandoned temple site where he first found out about Des and Greiv.  He then has a talk with his sword about who's really in charge, especially with what happened in the Age of Regret.
  • Callon somehow gets a visit from his sister, though he doesn't know if its her from the past, present, future, or just the shard of conjuration (which may be her anyways).
  • Desangreiv goes missing. Was it taken or did it leave on it's own?
  • New found fame has a price. All of a sudden, our magnificent Captain is the apple of the social circle's eye. How will he take the newfound popularity?
  • His exploits have attracted the attention of a young, headstrong youth that wants to be just like Callon. Hero worship, or something sinister?

Things for Knox

  • Knox's parents call the Maladroits over for a visit, since Knox is now old and powerful enough to learn some family secrets.
  • Knox is seen by the rest of the party making friendly with another *gasp* female wizard in the tower?! Investigation time!
  • Keaton brings a mysterious, valuable doodad to Knox. Where didi it come from, where should it go? Did it come from Cotton Eyed Joe?

Things for Lucas

  • A visiting dignitary from Tortuftas wishes to speak with Lucas
  • Lucas finds a long, winding, little used path in one of Riparia's parks.  He decides to go for a walk by himself to think about recent adventures, and may come upon a stranger to talk to.
  • Lucas overhears some refugees from Tortuftus talking and learns about the happenings there... and the new king.
  • What was up with the Coral Hammers? Sneaky Rogue time to see why they wouldn't want anyone on their ships.... oh. Oh, that would explain things. Yikes.
  • Shenanigans abound as our illustrious rogue tries to get the ribbon of his vampire sweetie cast into a blade (didn't know if Tobes had something planned for this or not).

Doodlin' About Riparia

List the things you'd like the group to do in Riparia aside from your Tale of Ba Sing Se.
  • Custom orders for Kokichi
  • CATCH %&@#ing JONID
  • Potential upgrades Bramblewick - security, updating trophy room with stuff from the hoard, etc.
  • See about laying claim to or purchasing new mesa we made.
  • When was the last BBQ?  Maybe time for another. WORK PICNIC?
  • Checking on Kokichi and crew. Maybe part of custom orders for him (see above).

Questions for the Divine Blade

Questions we want to ask

Feel free to transplant stuff from last time and the time before.
  • Are the Racial Blades from the other cosmology indeed mirror versions of Shards?
  • If yes to previous, do they represent other things getting split when the Sword of Magic was sundered?
  • What will become of Lollipop? Will she choose the path of good?
  • Did Dram actually do anything to Alera as the Maladroits left?
  • Did Dram realize he possessed a Shard? If so, what were his plans with it?
  • Will we need to worry about Dram in the near future (near being the time between now and the possible defeat of the other big bads)?
  • Can you teach each of us to properly wield the Shards should the need arise before they're all gathered?
  • What and who are Des and Griev? Were they actually an angel and fiend before becoming Desangriev?

Questions we actually asked

  • Are the Racial Blades from the other cosmology indeed mirror versions of Shards? If yes, do they represent other things getting split when the Sword of Magic was sundered?
Aria: Sure, I guess. You’re asking a question about us, but not really us. It’s like if you had a twin and I saw your twin eating a cinnamon bun, then I came to you and asked how it tasted. I can probably guess, but it’s a weird ask.
  • What will become of Lollipop? Will she choose the path of good?
Aria: If she really wants to. And she does. But she also doesn’t.
Necromancy: You hate giving straight answers. This is easy! Undead are evil! Goodness is just a passing whimsy for them.
Transmutation (as Evocation): I BELIEVE EVEN A VAMPIRE CAN CHOOSE TO MAKE A CHANGE. BACK ME UP.
Evocation: YOU ARE TOTALLY WEIRDING ME OUT RIGHT NOW.
Transmutation (as Conjuration): If we are who we are and our futures are prescribed by our nature, how did we all become so distinct?
Enchantment: Just because we all used to live in the same place doesn’t mean we were ever all friends.
Conjuration: Or that we can ever return to that state of union. You can never go home again.
Aria: Yes, well. “Can” and “will” aren’t always the same.
  • Did Dram actually do anything to Alera as the Maladroits left?
Aria: Of course he did. It was just an electrical discharge. You can imagine how frustrated you made him.
  • Did Dram realize he possessed a Shard? If so, what were his plans with it?
Transmutation (as Aria): No. He knew I was powerful, but he had no idea what my purpose was.
Aria: That’s not to say he won’t be looking into it now.
  • Will we need to worry about Dram in the near future (near being the time between now and the possible defeat of the other big bads)?
Aria: If nothing Shard-related changes or clouds the future I’m seeing, no. After? Probably. But maybe you’ll all be dead before he reaches you. Bright side.
  • Can you teach each of us to properly wield the Shards should the need arise before they're all gathered?
Aria: We’re in the forms of normal weapons. You can wield us this way, assuming you have enough hands. I don’t have to teach you. As for wielding our power, no. You’re destined to or you aren’t, and since it relates to us, I have no idea if that’s your destinies.
  • What and who are Des and Griev? Were they actually an angel and fiend before becoming Desangriev?
Aria: Do you really want to know? You sure you wouldn’t rather find out for yourself?
